what are rss feeds?
RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.
RSS allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually.

What do I need to read an RSS Feed?
If you have Internet Explorer 7 or Mozilla Firefox then you will not need any extra software. These browsers have inbuilt RSS Readers (and are both free).
If you have earlier browsers, such as Internet Explorer 5.5 to 6, than you will need what is called a Feed Reader or a News Aggregator. This software allows you to grab the RSS feeds from various sites and display them for you to read and use.
A number of free RSS Readers are available for different platforms. Here are a few...
- For Windows PC's
- FeedReader
- For Windows PC's and Apple Macs
- Amphetadesk
- Web-based readers
- My Yahoo
- Bloglines
- Google Reader
