what do we do in school?
You will prepare for the Report Day in a series of lessons which are part of the mainstream curriculum (English, Citizenship or PSHE).
Go to the BBC website, which has resources to help you with the following:
- What is a news story? What's the role of news? What are the different sorts of news? How can we find news?
- How is news selected and packaged for different audiences?
- What are the components of a simple broadcast news report and a simple broadcast news bulletin? How can we write the essentials of a story simply?
- What is the news day? What are the main tasks and jobs involved? What's the significance of deadlines and accuracy and of working together?
- What are the different techniques we can use to tell a story? How can we ask questions and interview people? How can we use pictures or audio?
- How can we check what we say is true? How can we be fair? How can we make sure that we hear from all sorts of people and tell all sides of a story? What happens if we don't?
Visit the tour on this website to find out what you will be doing during the report day and view past broadcasts and galleries to see what other students have done.
